Minimum Graduate Admissions Requirements

Graduate admission requirements vary by degree program. Applicants should review the minimum GPA requirements below as well as any additional requirements for their intended graduate program.

Minimum GPA by Graduate Program

  1. MBA, Professional MBA: 2.50
  2. MA Religious Studies: 3.00
  3. MA Psychology: 3.00
  4. MDiv Buddhist Chaplaincy: 3.00
  5. DBMin Buddhist Ministry: 3.00
  6. PhD Religious Studies: 3.00
  7. PhD Eastern Philosphy & Religion: 3.00

**International Applicant Deadline: Applicants must have a valid F-1 visa to attend UWest. Those who do not yet have a current F-1 visa will need to apply to UWest at least three months in advance of the intended start date to allow time for the visa approval process.

Graduate Application Requirements

Follow the steps below to complete your application to a University of the West graduate program.
Additional requirements may apply depending on your intended degree program.

Complete Your Graduate Application

Complete the UWest online graduate application and submit the required application fee.

Submit a Statement of Purpose

Submit a 500–600 word statement explaining your reasons for pursuing graduate study,
your academic or research interests, and your professional and personal goals.

Submit Official Transcripts & Diploma

Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, along with
a copy of your most recently earned bachelor’s or master’s degree diploma.

Submit Letters of Recommendation

Provide three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your
academic or professional qualifications. Academic recommendations are strongly encouraged.

Submit Identification

Provide a valid legal photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s license, along with
any additional identification documents required for your admission status.

After Graduate Admission

Once admitted to UWest, follow the Graduate After Admission Checklist to confirm
enrollment, register for classes, explore financial aid and housing, and prepare for your first semester.
