|Dr. Chin Shun Wu Leaving Post as President of University of the West|

University of the West’s Board of Trustees announced today that Dr. Chin Shun Wu will leave his post as President following the conclusion of the UWest graduation ceremonies on May 18, 2013. The Board has named Dr. Bill Y. Chen as the University’s Acting President to serve in that capacity until a longer-term interim Acting President is named and a nation-wide search for a new President is launched.
In making the announcement, the Venerable Hsin Ting, Vice Chairman of the UWest Board, issued the following statement:
“We appreciate Dr. Wu’s leadership over the past several years as we’ve watched our student body expand, our course offerings increase and our reaccreditation efforts succeed at a high level. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
UWest Board member Roger Frank, Chairman of the Search Committee for Dr. Wu’s successor, noted further: “We’re very excited about the next phase of UWest’s growth. We see some great opportunities for the University and are very pleased with the possibilities for leadership based on our initial search. We hope to complete the process shortly.”
