| $10K & $5K Lotus Scholarships Set to Return in 2013 |

ROSEMEAD, NOV. 30, 2013 -- The generous Lotus Scholarship ($10,000/$5,000) will again be made available to new students entering University of the West as full time, qualified students in the fall 2013 semester. In addition, this year student who start during the spring 2013 and summer 2013 semesters will also be eligible to apply for the Lotus in the fall. In 2012, University of the West established the Lotus Scholarship Program thanks to a large number of generous donations. In the 2012-2013 academic year, a total number of 58 students received at least a combined $500,000 in scholarship awards under the program. For the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year, UWest has successfully raised funds to continue providing the Lotus Scholarships for new students entering the University, as well as for students seeking to renew their scholarship for a second year. New applicants must meet the scholarship eligibility requirements and matriculate into UWest in the 2013-2014 academic year. Returning applicants must meet the Lotus Scholarship guidelines in order to qualify for a second year of the award.
UWest anticipates awarding a large number of Lotus Scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year. The Scholarship awards $5,000 or $10,000 annually to each successful applicant to apply toward his or her tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, and other expenses required for attendance at UWest. |
