This scholarship, established by a generous donation from Drs Allen and Lily Huang, is to recognize the student who has demonstrated his/her leadership skills and the results of his/her culminated actions and accomplishments will serve as a model to his/her fellow students and bring the honors to the UWest.

Award amount: $2,000

How to Apply:

Submit a Drs. Allen and Lily Huang Student Leadership Award Application Form

Criteria of eligibility:

• Must be admitted to and enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program;
• Must have completed at least one full semester;
• Must be currently enrolled in classes at UWest;
• Must be in Good Standing with a minimum 3.5 GPA;
• Must demonstrated leadership skills on campus (e.g. involvement in Student Association, on- campus and/or community service activities);
• Must show commitment to ethical standards and values including kindness, honesty, compassion, joy, respect, and equanimity.
• May receive the Award only once at UWest.

Requirements:

• Drs. Allen and Lily Huang Student Leadership Award Application submitted to the Financial Aid Office by the deadline;
• Two letters of recommendation;
• 3-page essay focusing on applicant’s leadership qualities, including information on the leadership activities of the student and their impact on and off campus;
• Only complete applications providing all the requested information and documentation will be accepted.

Application Deadline:

Last Monday of February

When to Award:

Drs. Allen and Lily Huang Student Leadership Award recipient will receive scholastic recognition at the Spring Commencement.

Note:

Applicants whose student aids have reached to the cap of the Cost of Attendance in the award year, check with Financial Aid office before applying for the scholarship.
